ELL Objectives
WRITING
IV-W-1 TSW express his or her thinking and ideas in a variety of writing genres.
(IV-W-1:LI-3) taking notes using teacher or student selected & formats based upon
knowledge of oral or written text structures.
(IV-W-1:LI-6) writing a variety of functional text (e.g. directions, procedures,
graphs/tables, brochures) that addresses the audience, stated purpose & context.
IV-W-2 TSW identify and apply conventions of standard English in
his or her communications.
(IV-W-2:HI-2) using common spelling patterns & generalizations to spell words
(e.g. ‘i before e”, plurals of words ending with ‘y’, doubling of final consonant) of words with short & long vowel sounds, & high frequency words, with instructional support.
(IV-W-2:LI-4) writing sentences & simple paragraphs using appropriate punctuation
(e.g. ending punctuation, periods, abbrev, colons, time,etc.
READING
IV-R-2 TSW identify and manipulate the sounds of the English language and decode words, using knowledge of phonics, syllabication, and word parts.
(IV-R-2:HI-8) applying knowledge of basic syllabication rules when decoding unfamiliar words in content area.
(IV-R-2:HI-12) reading high frequency words.
(IV-R-2:HI-14) applying knowledge of word order (syntax) to confirm decoding of text.
IV-R-4 TSW analyze text for expression, enjoyment, information, and understanding.
